Subject: Gaia Outreach: "Take a picture of Gaia" (Call for pictures from

Dear national representative for Gaia outreach, on December 10, 2013, a
small group of DPAC members (WP960) met at ESTEC in order to discuss the
future of the Gaia outreach together with Sandra Vogt from ESA.

One of our ideas to involve the public and in particular active amateur
astronomers is to ask them to take a picture of Gaia while it is one its way
to L2 or at L2. Many amateurs have the right equipment to do this and I
think it is a very good opportunity to bring them in touch with Gaia.

As you know from Martin Altmann's Email, thanks to our Paris colleagues,
Sebastien Bouquillon, Francois Taris, Teddy Carlucci and Christophe Barache,
a tool is available to access to Gaia ephemerides/finding
charts: http://gaiainthesky.obspm.fr.

It is not possible to reliably predict the brightness of Gaia. During the
transfer it could be anything from 12th to 18th magnitude.

Pictures of Gaia can be send to jordan@ari.uni-heidelberg.de with the
subject "Gaia in the sky" until January 15, 2014.

The best pictures will be published by ESA as image of the week on the Gaia
website http://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/gaia/image-of-the-week.

We ask you, as the national representative to distribute this information to
amateur astronomy groups in your country.

Cher représentant national pour Gaia sensibilisation , le 10 Décembre 2013, un
petit groupe de membres du CAPD ( WP960 ) se sont réunis à l'ESTEC afin de discuter de la
avenir de la sensibilisation Gaia avec Sandra Vogt de l'ESA .

astronomes est de leur demander de prendre une photo de Gaia alors qu'il est un son chemin

Il n'est pas possible de prévoir de manière fiable la luminosité de Gaia . au cours de l'
transférer pourrait être quelque chose du 12 au 18 ampleur .
 
Photos de Gaia peuvent être envoyés à jordan@ari.uni-heidelberg.de avec le
thème « Gaia dans le ciel" jusqu'au 15 Janvier 2014.
 
Les meilleures photos seront publiées par l'ESA à l'image de la semaine sur le Gaia
http://www.cosmos.esa.int/web/gaia/image-of-the-week site .
 
Nous vous demandons , en tant que représentant national à diffuser cette information à
des groupes d'astronomes amateurs dans votre pays .
